Best Garment Steamer of 2021-Buy 9 pieces to easily reduce the wrinkles of your clothes

Buy a garment steamer to help keep your clothes in top condition? Smart idea. With the help of the best garment steamer, you can reduce the wrinkles of your clothes on the day you wear them in just a few minutes. There is no need to drag the iron and its board out of the cabinet and wait for it to heat up, because they are easy to use-you can carry hand-held irons on your travels because they are beautiful and portable.

Now, we are not saying that you don’t need one of the best steam irons to help deal with the burden of your clothes, because you absolutely need it, but before you go out, this humble steam iron is great for refreshing your clothes and reducing wrinkles. It's a very precious door. In addition, using a garment steamer can actually kill bacteria living on clothes. Absolute victory in the current era.

We all know very well now that wearing clothes once and then throwing them in the washing machine is harmful to the environment-it is also harmful to your clothes! If you want to wear clothes multiple times without feeling (and looking like) that your skirt, shirt, or pants have been worn the day before and have been drawn into the drawer, then you can rely on the steamer. You can also use a garment steamer to clean curtains and upholstery, as well as reduce the wrinkles of bedding-because everyone knows that ironing sheets can be one of the most tedious tasks.

Before using the garment steamer to put old clothes in the laundry basket, give them a new lease of life. Whether you choose a small portable steamer or a large vertical steamer with a built-in hanger, the method is the same. While walking, hold the steamer with one hand and tighten the fabric with the other hand. We have tested the garment steamer combinations for all budgets.

Capacity: 70 ml Dimensions: 38 x 12.8 x 15 cm Weight: 950 grams Power: 1300 watts

What we like is super light looks great, very travel-friendly

What we don’t like. Small water tank capacity is not the best choice to reduce the entire laundry basket

This elegant Philips garment steamer has a slim design. It is worth noting that it is very suitable for refreshing clothes, but it is not designed to make the entire ironing pile run quickly. It comes with a beautiful gray heat-resistant storage bag, which is long and thin. It also comes with silver heat-resistant gloves and brush attachments. The water tank is clamped in the handle, so it is very slim, 70 ml, too small. And its filling hole is very small, so filling it accurately under the tap is tricky.

Its 24g/min steam function is quite good. It feels like the vertical steam you might get from a steam iron. But unlike an iron, it is very comfortable to hold. There are many good and practical contacts. The 2.5m power cord is longer than most power cords. Release the steam trigger to suspend the power cord, so you can safely change clothes or locations or add brush accessories without worrying about burns.

However, we do not feel the need for insulated gloves. Depending on which part of the clothes we are steaming, it is easier not to exchange hands. The result was great, but we ran out of water after only wearing two clothes.

The best hand-held garment steamer

Capacity: 260 ml Dimensions: 34.5 x 19.5 x 22 cm Weight: 1.44 kg Power: 1750 W

What we like It only takes 35 seconds to heat up 2 settings, including ecological 3m cable

Where we don’t like the small water tank means you need to keep adding water

The mid-priced Morphy Richards has a clever design that is both innovative and ergonomic. The design is slim, but it can fit into a 260 ml water tank. But the shape means it is balanced in the hand, so it feels very light. It will heat up in 35 seconds.

We also like its many ingenious designs. There is only one clip-on tool, but it has a brush with bristles on the top and a squeegee on the bottom, which is perfect for lifting lint. We found that brushes are also very suitable for interior decoration.

Then the top of Express Steam has a very unusual feature: an extra steam hole with a plastic clip, allowing you to use the top to press the collar and creases. The results will never be as strong as pressing with an iron, but they are good enough: you can use a steam head to remove wrinkles from, for example, school uniforms, and then use the tool on the top to quickly press the collar.

Even small touches are good, such as Velcro straps, which can prevent the 3m rope from getting tangled when you store the steamer. Our only criticism is that the indicator light (indicating 20 g/min eco mode or 25 g/min turbo) is located in front of the trigger button, so it is not easy to see them.

The best vertical garment steamer

Capacity: 1.1 L Dimensions: 40 x 40 x 168 cm Weight: 13.2 kg Power: 2170 W

What do we like about the vertical and angled steam clothing ready to kill 99.9&% of viruses in 70 seconds Easy to transport

Things we don’t like are priced at £299. This steamer should be considered a long-term investment and not suitable for small apartments.

There are only two things that are not conducive to this quality Tefal. The first is that it is expensive. The second is that it takes a long time to unpack and install. When you pay a high price for a product, you want a high-quality unboxing experience; you don't want to feel like you are assembling a flat package.

In other words, if money is not an issue, then this-once assembled-is the best. The shape of the steam nozzle is like an iron bottom plate, which makes sense, because the unusual design provides you with the best of both worlds: you can steam clothes hanging vertically on its plate, tilt the plate 30° for comfort, Or place it horizontally and use Tefal like iron.

The black and copper design is very attractive, but it looks a bit like a huge Duracell battery. It has wheels for easy carrying. The power cord and steam hose are each 1.8 meters long, and the steam is ready within the prescribed 70 seconds. In the test, it took 80 seconds.

The steam is the best in its class. When you pull the trigger, a pressure of 5.8 bar can provide a constant steam of 90 g/min and an extremely powerful steam injection of 200 g/min. The result is what really matters, and Tefal surprised us-or should we drive us away? It can lighten the shirt effortlessly in less than a minute, and is the best way to remove the crease of a linen dress in the test. The steam injection lasted for 30 seconds, which is enough before you need to move to a new location anyway.

If you have space for a vertical garment steamer and don't mind Tefal's price tag, it will not disappoint.

The best portable garment steamer

Capacity: 260 ml Dimensions: 15 x 12 x 22 cm Weight: 1.6 kg Power: 1500 W

What trigger control do we like? The fast heating stainless steel head is very suitable for travel. Anti-calcium water tank. There are many accessories in 3 colors.

The performance of things we don't like is a bit mediocre

This Fridja handheld device comes with an oversized velvet bag that is unisex, but it feels like it can happily belong to the boudoir. Accessories include a piece of plastic that can get a clearer effect on the collar, a foldable hanger and a fabric protective cover to cover the steam head to hold delicate items. There is no brush.

It also comes with a clever bottle adapter, so you can travel easily during holidays or fashion shoots. Remove Fridja's fab 260 ml water tank and use an adapter to use it with most water bottles. The power cord is a bit short at 2m, but other than that, it is difficult to make mistakes. The design is simple and modern, equipped with a large and bright power lamp.

The 25 g/min steam power is strong, and the trigger has a sliding switch, so you can keep it on at any time. You can steam continuously for 8 minutes at a time. The collar accessories are very good, not very good. No steam iron can really provide the same sharpness as an iron, but it does help a little bit-you put the plastic behind the collar and it will give you something to push.

It is definitely the best choice for handheld power supplies. You can use Fridja to blitz a pile of clothes, while other handheld devices are more designed to refresh one or two items.

The most cost-effective garment steamer

Capacity: 270 ml Dimensions: 18.7 x 11.9 x 29.2 cm Weight: 1.22 kg Power: 1500 W

What do we like about the portable size? Lightweight and economical. 30 seconds heating time. Auto shut-off mode

We don’t like what the power cord is a bit short

This hand-held garment steamer is decorated in black and rose gold, which is very attractive and great value for money. On the Internet, you can buy it for a little over half of its official launch price of £60.

We like the trigger control and its 270ml fuel tank, but found that the 2 meter long power cord was too short and the light on the back indicating the power setting was too small, so it was difficult to see.

It takes 30 seconds to heat up. There is no official data on how many grams/minute of steam it provides, but the steam is powerful enough and there are two levels to choose from. We also like the fabric brush. You can open it with a plastic lever with your index finger and open a clip that allows you to press on the collar and crease.

The performance is very good, not very good...but its price is very good.

Ideal home rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

The best hand-held garment steamer for accessories

Capacity: 260 ml Dimensions: 14.6 x 12 x 29 cm Weight: 1.27 kg Power: 1650 W

What we like comes with three handy tools 3 different heads 11 minutes steaming time perfect for cooked food

What we don’t like is hard to steam and stretch fabric at the same time

The chunky Russell Hobbs won't win any awards for its appearance, but it performs quite well, delivering 25 g/min of steam from a large 260 ml water tank. It will heat up in 45 seconds. We like the 3m long power cord and the fact that Steam Genie is heavy but well balanced in the hand. You can lock the control to keep the steam on so that your trigger finger does not feel pain.

However, its best feature is its accessories. Unusually, it comes with three tools. The first is a very standard clip-on lid for picking up lint. Even more unusual is the delicate accessory, a fabric cover designed for clothes with a single point on the ironing label.

The third tool is for interior decoration: a cloth cover covered with coral-style "fingers". Fingers have a large surface area, which can remove dust from furniture. This makes Russell Hobbs more versatile, but the result is completely different from a powerful steam cleaner.

The best shirt steamer

Capacity: 1 liter Size: 205 mm x 145 mm x 245 mm Weight: 7 kg Power: 1900 watts

What do we like? Its long steam hose is very compact

What we don’t like is not the most versatile. It means being excluded from the display is quite heavy

As the name suggests, it is essentially a mini. If you don't have enough space, this is the best vertical garment steamer, thanks to its 20.5 x 14.5 cm footprint. The entire base is designed to be tall and thin, but it will not tip over.

It has a 1 liter detachable water tank, which can be used for half an hour, and has a large water injection hole. The power cord is 2m long and the steam hose is 1.2m long. Its constant steam of 40 g/min is sufficient to complete the work, and the temperature can be reached within 60 seconds after opening.

The pole is divided into 5 parts, so you can remove one as needed to lower the height, but it is not telescopic, so you cannot adjust it to be short for storage. Accessories include lightweight gloves to protect your other hand when you steam, and a plate with holes that can be placed behind the collar and other areas where you want to press hard.

If you want to use the vertical clothes hanger as a drying rack in your bedroom to quickly refresh your clothes in the morning, then the elegant and compact design is the perfect choice. But if you want a washing machine, this is not the best choice.

Ideal House Rating: 4 stars (out of 5 stars)

The best professional clothing steamer

Capacity: 1.8 L Dimensions: 173 x 33 x 37 cm Weight: 5.4 kg Power: 2000 W

What do we like? Beautiful design is easy to transport. You can add oil-based fragrance to leave fragrance for your clothes. Automatically close

We don’t like what can’t be used horizontally. Sizable pants. No handles-you can dangle on the board.

You just have to look at Philips and you will see that it is a bit different. Other vertical steamers look like cylinder vacuum cleaners with telescopic rods on the top and wheels on the bottom. It has no wheels and looks like a clotheshorse, designed for your bedroom or walk-in closet. It does not belong to the cabinet under the stairs, especially because it is still 145 cm high when it is the shortest.

It is expensive, and the design seems to be too complicated. It has two poles that support the hanger and an elastic steam head. If you push it onto the clothes, it will bend backwards. It also has an anti-calcium collector at the bottom and a space for adding your own perfume. The knob on the top allows you to hang your clothes on the hanger and lock it in place. Unusually, it also provides variable steam, with a dial on the base.

There is also a flat part that can be clamped vertically, which looks like a mini ironing board-allowing you to push hard while steaming. We were disappointed that when the vertical steam couldn't cut it off, it couldn't pop out horizontally and used as a mini ironing board at those times (like the crease on a folded handkerchief). And the pants have no handles! Instead, you should hang them over the top of the board.

As for accessories, it comes with brushes for upholstery and thicker fabrics, and silver heat-insulating gloves to protect your free hands. This proves to be useful because the variable steam is very powerful in heavy blows (up to 40 g/min). We like the clever and unique design and found the board to be very effective: a bit like a vertical ironing.

But the price tag and the fact that you can't pack Philips properly means it's not suitable for many people. The elegant Philips lives in our dreamy walk-in closet. We will take out a dreamy dress for the next day, steam it and prepare it, and then leave it there overnight, ready to go to the office... or dance party. But if we had to steam a pile of clothes, we would choose Tefal.

Ideal home rating: 4 out of 5

The best travel garment ironing machine

Capacity: 150 ml Dimensions: 10 x 12 x 24.5 cm Weight: 990 grams Power: 1100 watts

What do we like? Reasonable price, small size 25.4 cm, very suitable for fast fat loss, lightweight and also suitable for travel

What we don’t like is a bit difficult to fill a very small water tank-really can only fit 1-2 pieces of clothes

Like similar handheld models, this garment steamer only occupies the space of a shoe box (including accessories). It is Tefal's most compact garment steamer, so we rated it as the best travel garment steamer. It has a tote bag and two accessories-a steam cover for delicate fabrics, and a brush for heavier fabrics and upholstery. It also comes with a clever metal hook that can be hung on the top of the door, allowing you to hang clothes somewhere for steam treatment.

Its detachable water tank has a capacity of 150 ml and a small water injection hole: it goes well and bad under the faucet, a bit like refueling a water gun. Then turn it on and wait 45 seconds until it stops blinking to indicate that it is ready for use. You have to hold the trigger button to get the steam, which takes a few seconds to start. And the power cord is a bit short at 2m.

We did not have high expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised: Tefal's performance was surprisingly good. 17 g/min of steam is not enough to provide a crisp effect comparable to ironing shirts, but it is enough to make school polo shirts respectable, quickly remove the creases of clothes of all shapes and sizes, and give clothes a new look. Great value for money, convenient and quick to update the wardrobe.

Ideal House Rating: 4 stars (out of 5 stars)

There are two types of garment steamers to choose from:

Handheld Garment Steamers These are no bigger than a shoebox and are perfect for traveling, going to work or working in the fashion industry-stylists love them. But the price of portability is a small water tank. If you want to fill a pile of clothes quickly, you need to refill it with water. You need to hang your clothes somewhere: the doorway is nice.

Vertical garment irons These garment horse style garment irons include hangers on telescopic rods. They are usually compressed to the size of a small cylinder vacuum cleaner. They are much bulkier to store, but the steam is more powerful, and the large water tank means you can keep the steam longer.

Remember that steam irons also provide vertical steam. Therefore, if you use it occasionally, you can use an iron that has both. However, if you want to steam a lot of things, the garment steamer feels much better than lifting a heavy iron.

See our guide to the best ironing boards for the best advice from experts

The starting price of a hand-held steamer is around £50. They will do well. Budget at least £100 to buy a vertical steamer with hangers and a much larger water tank.

Steam is measured in grams per minute. The larger the number, the stronger the steam (the faster it can remove creases); some steamers allow you to adjust the level of different fabric types.

The larger the water tank, the longer the steaming time.

Accessories The handheld garment steamer has almost no accessories (if any). More delicate fabrics require soft coverings, tougher fabrics and upholstery require brushes. Vertical steamers usually come with an attachment that can help you put the crease on your pants, which works well. Some steamers are also equipped with heat-resistant gloves to protect your free hands.
