Everything is under control: Jacket technology-Laundry and Cleaning News

Cleaners often face difficult quality problems when arranging jackets. Especially in the case of sleeve seams, where the sleeves are connected to the jacket, and occasionally there are seams in the pocket flaps, not to mention the problems caused by fusible interlinings. For more than 50 years, fusible interlinings have been the source of difficult finishing failures, mainly caused by the wavy effect of the outer fabric caused by the relaxation/shrinkage of the interlining or the local breakage of the bond leading to air bubbles or blisters. Over the years, the industry has developed technologies that can correct or mitigate the failures associated with these interlinings in many cases.

Due to improper makeup and/or incorrect thread tension during the manufacturing process, the seam area connecting the sleeve to the body may wrinkle during the cleaning process. Pre-finishing the garment on a tension forming machine may help correct errors, but in most cases, the finisher needs to focus on that area.

1. If your ironing table has a vacuum-padded sleeve arm, please pull the sleeve from the sleeve to the shoulder, then stretch and tighten the area (you may need help), while not using the vacuum In case of steam ironing. Then, vacuum the area before removing the sleeve.

2. Without cuff arms, hang the jacket on the hanger, and use a thick fabric (such as a small terry cloth) to firmly press the fabric into the shoulder/sleeve area, and then use steam ironing. Then, before removing the fabric, let it cool completely (blow the area to increase cooling). This may take some time. At the end in this way, it is best to wear protective gloves to avoid the risk of burns.

Both of these techniques may require some practice to achieve the best results.

The failure of fusible interlinings can be caused by cleaners, customers or manufacturers. Shrinkage defects are usually caused by the use of general pre-dispensing or water-based kit chemicals in areas such as the shoulders and front; or the customer is forced to dry the damp jacket. The manufacturer’s bonding process is critical to the stability of the interlining during wear and cleaning in terms of time, temperature and pressure; for example, it is well known that manufacturers will reduce the time on the bonding machine to meet production commitments, resulting in local bonding Breakdown causes blistering,

1. Ripple fault. Use bottom steam or use the steam of an iron to heat the area-hold the iron close to the fabric and do not apply vacuum. Then, immediately stretch the heated fabric at right angles to the corrugations, and apply tension as much as possible while cooling with a vacuum. This may require a lot of effort. Finally, if it is suitable for fabrics, please steam ironing while vacuuming and cooling well before moving. The same technique can be used to correct defects in the seam area on the pocket flap.

2. Bubbling failure. These can usually be corrected by pressing hard or ironing the affected area and then gently applying high-quality hair spray. In some cases, the application of industrial methylated alcohol followed by pressing or ironing will actually re-establish the connection. Remember, this is usually a manufacturing failure, which is a very dangerous process, especially damaging the acetate fabric. There is also a risk that the color may be affected.

Everything requires time, patience and practice.
