Lynsey Crombie, famed for being TV’s Queen of Clean, has amassed an impressive 287k followers on her Instagram alone thanks to her handy advice on tackling household chores. She spoke to Express.co.uk to explain an easy way people can keep on top of their oven cleaning routine.

The solution is simply ingraining a new “habit” into your cooking routine which won’t take much time to do but will make a world of difference when it comes to how often you need to deep clean your oven.

Lynsey explained: “Get into the habit of wiping over your oven after every use, this takes seconds and all you need is a warm soapy cloth to remove the food spillages and any grease and grime.”

While this will keep the top of your oven germ-free, you should try to give the inside a deeper clean around every three months.

If you begin to smoke when you are baking or can visibly see burnt on food then you should clean your oven’s interior immediately.

Lynsey said: “If the oven is bad, you can just blast it using steam, a power from the steamer will cut through grease and grim with ease.”

Power steamers, such as the handheld steamer from Swan, can help to clean and create a “streak-free shine” around the home, including ovens, windows and even showers.

If you don’t have a steamer at home, Lynsey has a budget-friendly alternative that is also free from chemicals.

She explained: “Alternatively sprinkle with bicarbonate of soda and then spray with white vinegar, close the door, leave it for a few hours, and then wipe clean.”

Bicarbonate of soda, also known as baking soda, is a non-toxic and effective way of cleaning oven grease.

Baking soda’s alkaline properties are able to break down baked on grease and foods, which are usually acidic.

The mineral structure of baking soda also works as a gentle abrasive, which can scrub away stubborn stains without leaving behind harsh scratches.

Build-ups can then be easily wiped away with a clean, damp cloth.
