The MKE Air & Water Show, STEAM Fest, Gallery Night MKE and more make this weekend’s list.

FRIDAY AT 10 A.M. | W. WASHINGTON ST. BETWEEN S. 9TH & S. 10TH

The bright street mural in the Walker Square neighborhood, created by local artists Katie Avila and Whitney Salgado from LUNA (Latinas Organizadas eN las Artes), is getting a refresh. Swing by, grab a paintbrush and help brighten the Washington Corridor Active Street.

FRIDAY AT 5 P.M AND SATURDAY AT 10 A.M. | VARIOUS LOCATIONS

Gallery Night is back! Visit galleries in the Third Ward, Easttown and Walker’s Point to experience the city’s creative culture. Each spot will be showing off exhibits by local artists, and you’ll have the chance to buy some MKE original artwork.

OPENS FRIDAY | MARN ART + CULTURE HUB

Opening at Gallery Night MKE this weekend,  this exhibition chronicles Milwaukee artist Rakim Wil’s photography career. This collection presents portraits often shot on location in Milwaukee’s inner city, highlighting the African diaspora and Wil’s unique style. Grab a beverage, stay for the exhibition and explore MARN’s Marketplace during your visit.

FRIDAY AT 5 P.M. | THE AMP AT KONKEL PARK

Have a night out with your four-legged companion at this dog-friendly festival. It’s the first year for Bark After Dark, where you can shop pet vendors and listen to live music, then head to the AMP Haus to get yourself a drink and a puptini for your plus-one.

For the 11th year, Milwaukee pays tribute to the members of our Armed Forces and Veterans in one of the top air shows in the United States with the MKE Air & Water Show. Enjoy the thrill of aerial and water-based acrobatics on the lakefront by civilian and military performers, including the Blue Angels.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY AT NOON | THE GRANVILLE CONNECTION PARKING LOT

Sixteen acts will be taking the stage at this year’s Granville Blues Fest. Bring your chairs and listen to the live music under the main tent. Artists are coming from all over the Midwest for this groovin’ event.

SATURDAY AT 11 A.M. | MILWAUKEE PUBLIC LIBRARY MITCHELL STREET BRANCH

Celebrate Arab American culture at this fun and informative mini festival hosted by the Milwaukee Public Library. Sit for bilingual story time, listen to Arabic music and enjoy a fashion show of traditional clothing. Learn about Arabic calligraphy and take part in button making while enjoying the food and ice cream vendors.

SATURDAY AT 11 A.M. | HENRY MAIER FESTIVAL PARK

Head to the biggest gathering of the best food on wheels. This year, Food Truck Fest will have 20 food trucks lined up to serve you everything from fried to fresh. Beverages will also be available to purchase on site. Tickets can be purchased online.

SATURDAY AT NOON | KING PARK

The concepts of science are everywhere! Learn more science, tech, engineering, art and math at this festival. Here, you’ll find a bike giveaway, a Tesla Model X Demo, an Oobleck pool race, hot air balloon rides, a bike rodeo and more. Learn and have fun all at the same time.

SATURDAY AT 1 P.M. | MENOMONEE VALLEY URBAN ECOLOGY CENTER

Get outside and take a ride to the Mitchell Park Domes. Identify plants along the way and visit three different biomes in the conservatory. Botanical infused water, admission into the Domes and the bike rental are all included! Find more information and register here.

SATURDAY AT 6 P.M. | FRANKLIN FIELD

Watch the Milwaukee Milkmen take on the Sioux City Explorers while this cast of inflatable characters puts on a hilarious, one-of-a-kind show. Watch the chaos ensue, and you may even find yourself in the middle of it all! End the night with a post-game fireworks show.

SUNDAY AT 9 A.M. | CROSSROADS COLLECTIVE

What better way to brunch than a Waffle Party? Press Waffles is popping into the Crossroads Collective to serve up some authentic Belgian Liège waffles made with locally handmade brioche-based dough. Try out their featured waffle with fresh peaches and quark cheese, be adventurous and taste a savory waffle or stick with the classic sweet and simple.

SUNDAY FROM 3-6 P.M. |  3536 W. FOND DU LAC AVE. 

It’s the first week of the Front Porch Series at Sherman Phoenix, with vendors, food and live music from Vogue Rebel in their outdoor space. The series is monthly, so if you can’t make it this weekend, you can stop by next time on Aug. 14.
