In Bustle’s Beauty Detail, we delved into the beauty bags of our favorite talents to learn about the rituals that make them glow and the MVP (the most valuable product) they can’t live without. Here, Addison Rae tells Bustle about her self-care necessities, her strategic approach to perfume, and the fashion trends she brought back in the early 2000s.

Addison Rae's first obsession with perfume was the fantasy of Britney Spears. She will go to the mall to buy a small bottle so that she can spray herself with perfume at any time. But she also uses different perfumes for different occasions.

"If I go on a date, I will wear a different perfume than when I go home or meet my family," Rae told me through Zoom. "I always thought it was really cool to associate different moments with scents." It was this scent method that inspired her to launch her own perfume line, Addison Rae Fragrance-a collection of three unique formulas, each catering to a specific Mood (to be precise, Happy AF, Hyped AF and Chill AF).

This is not the first time the social media star has ventured into the beauty industry-Rae's skin care and makeup brand Item Beauty was launched in 2020. (Hundreds of millions of followers on her Instagram, TikTok and Twitter) will prove that she has a seemingly innate beauty. Whether it is swinging 90s butterfly hairpins or braids, Rae is always at the forefront of fashion trends.

One of the inspo sources of the brand founder? Weibo. "I grew up on Tumblr, and now it's so interesting to see the Tumblr-style atmosphere come back in fashion," Lei said with a smile. When we zoomed, she happened to wear one of these trends: bright purple eyeshadow. "Colorful eyeshadow was very popular in pop music in the early 2000s and then made a comeback," she said.

In addition to the joy and experimental beauty she likes to wear, Rae said that she turned to self-care for reasons other than her appearance. "Self care is actually taking care of your heart, your soul, and your mind," she told me. "It's about relaxing and really giving yourself a break." For her, it means spending an hour on skin care and, of course, an hour on breathing, meditating, and listening to music ("My boyfriend can play Guitar, this is something I like very much that helps me relax," she said).

The skin care ingredients in Rae's self-care regimen are no joke. "I like to scrape. I sat in front of the face steamer for about 15 minutes," she said, talking about some of her beauty rituals. "I also have a body roller. There are three balls at the end. You can roll on your skin. "This is the product that I live and die for. You put water in it-I will use bottled water so that it will be more pure-and then it will heat up and make your face evaporate. Sometimes I wear a mask and put the steamer in it. It’s great to put it on top. It feels like a steam room, but a portable one. My skin likes to be wet — I come from the South — so it gives me the damp feeling of a humid day, which makes me feel incredible.”
